Pre-Admissions Centre - HCA Session (Venepuncture)
LOCATION:
Above the Diabetes Education Centre at the front of the hospital (left of the main entrance as you face the hospital). Access is through the Main Out-patient department on C level; go through Receptions A&B then turn left at the bottom of the corridor. BRIEF DESCRIPTION: Pre-operative Assessment Nurses see patients who are due to have surgery, and assesses them to ensure they are fit enough for anaesthesia. The Health Care Assistants based at the Centre take bloods. WHAT YOU MIGHT SEE/DO AT THE UNIT: Attending a session with a Health Care Assistant will give you the opportunity to practice and improve your venepuncture skills.
