Acute Medical Unit (AMU): Shifts
LOCATION: AMU, B Level, Junction 1
BRIEF DESCRIPTION: Wide variety of patients admitted via GP or A&E routes with acute conditions. The acute medical cases represent the hard core of acute and emergency medicine and it is very relevant for your stage of training, so it is strongly recommended that you get involved. WHAT YOU MIGHT SEE/DO AT THE UNIT: Post-take ward round with Consultants, accompany ANPs and IMT/F2/F1 doctors to clerk patients, opportunity to take a history, examine patients and ask if any patients need bloods, cannulas, ECGs etc. If available, Dr Jahangir or Dr Umerov will arrange some bedside teaching during the day. You will report to AMU at 8:00am till 4:00pm, please ask at Reception where Dr Jahangir or Dr Umerov are, if they are unavailable then please ask to link up with the Junior Doctors.
