Cardiac Cath Lab

LOCATION: Cardiology Suite, A Level, Junction 1

BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
Cardiac Catheter Suite is where Diagnostic Coronary Angiograms take place to determine appropriate treatment plans for patients with chest pain history. Treatment plans include referral for further intervention. Permanent pacemaker implant and complex device implants also take place for patients with heart rhythm disturbances and heart failure.
 
WHAT YOU MIGHT SEE/DO AT THE SESSION:
  • Observing Cardiologist: consenting/discussion with patient prior to procedure
  • Observing/scrubbing in for procedures under direct supervision of Cardiologist
  • Observation/training regarding angiographic images
  • Post procedure management
  • Observing/training with Cardiac/Pacing Physiologists
  • Complex device implant sessions where CRT devices and defibrillators are implanted
  • Device Pre-Assessment where reason for implant, the procedure, device function, lifestyle implications and aftercare are discussed
