Acute Surgical Unit (ASU): Weekday Shifts

BRIEF OVERVIEW / WHAT YOU MIGHT SEE:
ASU is the acute assessment bay for the newly admitted surgical patients, accepting patients mainly from GP and A&E referrals. You will be able to see and get involved in acute surgical cases such as: appendicitis, pancreatitis, diverticulitis, perforations of bowel, bowel obstruction and many other acute surgical pathologies. Your duty will mainly be shadowing the F1/SHO on call, clerking patients, taking blood from patients, helping the on call team in assessing the new admissions.

LOCATION: Acute Surgical Unit (ASU), B Level, Junction 1.
