BRIEF DESCRIPTION / WHAT YOU MIGHT SEE
The IBD nurse led clinic runs every Monday Wednesday afternoon and alternate Friday mornings. We have clinic over the phone and these can be on 3 monthly, 6 monthly, 9 monthly or even yearly appointments, the clinic on Friday is face to face. We assess and discuss there IBD needs and any concerns they may have. We also counsel them on medications and assess whether these are appropriate. We have a helpline running Monday to Friday which patients can call us for any of their IBD needs. Due to the relationship we have with our patients if any issues occur they usually phone us on the helpline and we try to solve most issues via the phone. This is better for them than having to wait to see us in clinic, and also helps to prevent hospital admissions. Both nurses are prescribers and can work independently of the GASTRO Consultant.
