LOCATION: Surgery - Report to the Doctor’s Office on ASU/ B10, B level, junction 4, at 8pm prompt for handover. Medicine - Report to the Doctor’s Office on AMU, B level, junction 1, at 8pm prompt for handover. BRIEF DESCRIPTION: Aims of the Night On-Call · To increase your exposure to acutely unwell and critically ill patients · To effectively assess patients using an ‘ABCDE’ approach · To improve your clinical skills, especially cannulation , phlebotomy, arterial blood gases and urinary catheterisation · To familiarise yourself with care out-of-hours · To appreciate how an effective multi-disciplinary team functions · To gain an insight into the clinical level expected by a Foundation year doctor during a typical night shift USEFUL INFORMATION AND KEY CONTACTS: NGH useful bleeps H@N coordinator - 7186 Haematology lab - 959 Radiographer - 7565 Radiologist - 7842 Cardiac arrest -2222 (phone) Security - 4393 & 7999 (emergency)
