Patient Safety

Ensuring that everyone who comes into contact with the health services has a safe experience is a key goal for all involved in providing health services.
There will be a close general oversight of all medical students on placement to ensure safe learning and practice of clinical competencies. Supervision will be given at a level appropriate to the student.
Students will have the opportunity to become increasingly competent in their clinical skills and in planning patient care and will acquire clinical experience progressively, from basic clinical competence, extended clinical competence to advanced competence and to an appropriately supervised undertaking of a student assistantship in the final year prior to graduation.
