Phase 3a Specialty Undergraduate Lead for Women's Health:

Miss Anupama Saxena
anupama.saxena@nhs.net

Find out more about the department: our services and our staff.

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology provides a comprehensive level of care in both specialities and we hope that you will become involved with all aspects of patient care during your time with us for your Phase 3a module in Women’s Health.

Whilst not wanting to convert you all to become Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, I cannot overemphasise the importance of each of you making the most of the clinical material available.  It is very difficult to get a problem based approach to education from books alone and certainly your best approach is to immerse yourself in the subject on the labour unit, clinics, theatre and on the wards.

During your 6 weeks stay your educational needs will be covered in clinics, the wards, emergency and elective procedures and included in your weekly ILAs. We hope that you will find your attachment interesting and thought provoking.

Students are encouraged to take an active part in the department and your session with us will end with your poster presentation giving you the opportunity to develop presenting skills and publications.

We work as a team with midwives, nurses and ultrasonographers.  There are 10 consultants, 8 STs, 1 junior ST and 6 GPVTSs.
