Services

Inpatient Care
Cardiology and general medical care for inpatients on 8 bed Coronary Care Unit and 16 beds on Ward A1. 
There is a consultant led daily ward round on CCU at 8am and A1 at 9am.

Outpatient Clinics
10 General cardiology outpatient clinics per week
3 Rapid Access Chest Pain Clinics per week
1 Specialist arrhythmia clinic per week
Daily face to face and virtual pacemaker follow-up clinics

Practical Cardiology
Daily transthoracic echocardiography lists
Diagnostic cardiac catheterisation and permanent pacemaker lists 4 days per week
Weekly transoesophageal echocardiography list
Twice weekly Myocardial Perfusion Imaging
Weekly Coronary CT and cardiac MR imaging
Weekly elective DC Cardioversion list
Full non-invasive outpatient cardiac diagnostics including Holter monitoring, exercise testing and Tilt Table Tests

Specialist Heart Failure and Cardiac Devices MDT
Active and busy research unit lead by Dr Muthusamy
Complex pacing and internal cardioverter defibrillator implantation fortnightly at Sheffield by Dr Smith
Timetabled weekly teaching by Dr Smith and Dr Mwambingu

We have a busy Department with every opportunity for you to enhance your cardiology knowledge and application. You will see the range of cardiac
investigations and procedures that can be performed and become more confident in numerous aspects of cardiology including coronary artery disease, heart failure, arrythmias, ecg interpretation, heart murmurs and cardiovascular therapeutics.
