Services
The department offer a full range of malignant and non-malignant haematological services up to BCSH Level 2, and has close links with the Royal Hallamshire in Sheffield which provides the tertiary Level 3 and 4 services (ie Bone Marrow Transplantation). We are part of the North Trent Cancer Network through which centralised diagnostic services and regional therapeutic MDTs operate.
Our in-patient facilities include a 12 bedded ward with 6 isolation rooms for the care of neutropaenic patients receiving intensive chemotherapy. We run 4 general haematology clinics a week, and various specialist clinics at various times.
The department also provides oversight of the hospitals Blood Transfusion and Anticoagulation services, authorisation and clinical comments on specialist tests such as haemoglobinopathy and coagulation screens, blood film morphology reporting and oversight of the Haematology Laboratory.
Drs Taylor and Alfred also provide a tertiary Photopheresis service for patients with graft-vs-host disease and cutaneous T-cell lymphoma.
